Working at Spencer'S Retail Ltd near the N.S.C.B.I Airport means we hear a lot of planes. We are located at New Quarters 602/B. It’s a specific part of Kolkata, 700052, where things are always moving. Retail is a lot of standing on your feet and moving boxes around. This isn't a glossy magazine version of a store. It is real work. We see people coming from the airport or locals living in the quarters nearby. The space is filled with all sorts of items. We spend a lot of time checking dates and putting things on shelves. It’s a big name, Spencer'S Retail Ltd, but for us at 602/B, it’s just our daily job. The air can be a bit dusty from the construction around the airport. We wear our uniforms and try to keep things organized. It’s a lot of repetition. Scanning items, talking to customers, making sure the floor is clean. Some days are faster than others. When the holiday season hits, it gets very crowded. We just keep our heads down and work through the shift. Being out here by the airport is different from being in the city center. It feels a bit more open, even if it's busy. We are just a team trying to keep the shelves full for whoever walks through the door today. It is tiring but it keeps us busy enough.
