Tara Maa Varity Stores

This little shop, Tara Maa Varity Stores, is right here on the ground floor of Nayapatty Main Road. We’ve been here for a while now, sitting quite close to the Sani Mandir. If you walk down the road, you can’t really miss us. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when everyone is out getting their things. We keep a bit of everything on the shelves because that’s what people around here need. From small snacks to household bits and pieces, it’s all crammed in there. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with the traffic outside, but we try to keep it tidy. The shop isn't very big, but we know where everything is. Usually, I’m the one behind the counter, or sometimes my family helps out when it gets crowded. It’s noisy with the cars and people going to the temple, but that’s just how it is in this part of Kolkata. We open up early and stay till late evening. People stop by to chat as much as they do to buy stuff. It’s not a fancy supermarket or anything like that. It’s just a regular neighborhood store where you can grab what you forgot to buy earlier. The fan stays on all day because it gets quite hot in this corner. We just try to get through the day and make sure we have the stock people ask for. That’s pretty much the whole story of this place.
