Tara Maa Bhandar

Tara Maa Bhandar is our little shop located in Barowaritala, Krishnapur. We are right on the Main Road in this part of Kolkata, 700102. It is a very busy area, especially in the evenings when everyone is coming back from work. We have all sorts of household goods. Mostly it is food items like rice, dals, and spices, but we also keep some cleaning supplies and small things for the kitchen. The shop is small and the ceiling is a bit low, so it stays cool in the summer but feels a bit tight when it’s crowded. We’ve been here in Krishnapur for years. The Main Road always has rickshaws and autos buzzing by, so it’s never quiet. I sit at the front and greet the people I know. Many of our customers have been coming to us since they were kids, and now they bring their own children. It’s nice to see the families grow up. We don't use any computers for our accounts, just a big notebook and a pen. It might seem old-fashioned but it works for a place like ours. We keep things simple. If we don’t have something, we try to get it by the next day. Kolkata life is fast, but in our shop, things move at a steady pace. We just want to provide the basics to our neighbors in Barowaritala. That is all there is to it.
