Swasti Variety Stores

Swasti Variety Stores is located in Motilal Colony, right along Jessore Road in Kolkata. If you’ve ever been on Jessore Road, you know how the traffic can get. We see all kinds of people coming through. Our shop is a bit of a mix of everything. We have stationery, some plastic goods, and the usual grocery items people need for their kitchens. It’s a variety store in the truest sense. Sometimes it feels like we have too many things for such a small space, and you have to move a bucket to see the soap. But that’s just how we like it. We know where everything is, even if it looks a bit messy to someone else. The Kolkata humidity can be tough, so we keep the door open to get whatever breeze we can. We don't have any fancy marketing. People know we are here at 700081 because we’ve been here for years. You’ll see the same faces every week. We talk about the weather or the local news while we weigh out pulses or pack up some notebooks. It’s a simple life. We open early because the morning walkers like to pick up their things before it gets too crowded. Sometimes we close a bit late if someone knocks on the shutter. We are just a part of the colony. It's nothing more than that.
