Sunili Leatheren Private Ltd. is over at 54, Mandir Road, right in Dum Dum Cant. Being near the Mandir means there’s always something going on outside—bells ringing, people walking by, and plenty of traffic. Our building is a solid old structure that has been through many seasons. Inside, it’s all about the leather. We have racks and racks of it stored in different sections. The air is thick with that earthy scent that comes with the material. We don't have a big staff, just a few people who know what they’re doing. The desks are a bit cluttered with samples and tools. We use the 54 Mandir Road address for everything, and most locals know the spot because of the old gate. It’s a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives, and we have to stack things high against the walls. We don’t have a website designer or anyone to write fancy slogans for us. We just open the doors in the morning and start working through the orders. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back window, so we keep a bucket there and remind ourselves to fix it next weekend. It’s just a normal workplace where we put in our hours and go home. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t; we just handle the leather work as it comes. It can be tiring, but it is what we have been doing for years.
