St Xavier Cambridge School

St Xavier Cambridge School is tucked away in the village of Raja Bagh, near Naga Bari and Tangra. It’s quite close to the railway station, so you can always hear the trains passing by throughout the day. Some of the newer teachers found it distracting at first, but now we don’t even notice the sound anymore. The school is a small place compared to the big ones in the city. The building is painted a light color that has faded a bit over the years. We have a small courtyard where everyone gathers in the morning. Since we are in a village area, many of the children walk to school from the nearby houses. The path leading up to the school can be a bit rough, especially after a heavy rain when the puddles take a few days to dry up. Inside, the rooms are simple with basic lights and old chalkboards. We don’t have fancy carpets or anything like that, just stone floors that stay cool in the summer. There’s a small shop nearby where the kids sometimes buy snacks after the final bell rings. The atmosphere is generally relaxed, and the teachers often sit together in the small staff room during their breaks. It’s a quiet life here in Naga Bari, and the school is just a part of the daily rhythm of the village and the railway station.
