Shree Narsingh Spice Powder Mill

If you walk down Bidhan Sarani in Shyam Bazar, you’ll find us at Plot No.206. We are Shree Narsingh Spice Powder Mill. It is quite loud here because the machines are always grinding something or other. Being near Vivekananda Road means there is a lot of traffic and people walking by all the time. The air inside the mill always smells like turmeric or chili, and it gets into your clothes by the end of the shift. It’s a bit of a cramped space, honestly, but that’s just how these old buildings in Shyam Bazar are. We spend most of our time making sure the spice powders are ground down to the right texture. It’s dusty work. We don’t really have time for fancy decorations or big signs. Usually, we just have the doors open so a bit of a breeze can come in from the street. The customers who come by are mostly locals or people who have been coming to this area for years. We’ve seen the shops around us change, but we’re still here at the same spot. It gets very busy in the afternoons, and sometimes it's hard to hear each other over the noise of the mill. We just focus on the work, weighing the bags and keeping the machinery running. It’s just a normal day for us here on Bidhan Sarani, and we keep things simple and practical.
