Ramel Mart

Our place is right on B T Road, not too far from the Ananya Cinema Hall. Being near the theater means there is always a lot of movement around 97/1/A. We see people coming and going for the movies, though most of our regulars are just folks living nearby in the neighborhood. It is a busy part of Kolkata, as anyone who lives here knows. The store isn't very big, but we pack a lot into the space we have. You will find the usual household items on the shelves, mostly things people run out of suddenly. Sometimes the stock gets a bit messy when we get a big delivery, and it takes a few hours to straighten everything out again. I usually handle the counter myself. My nephew helps out on the weekends when it gets more crowded with shoppers. We have seen the area change a bit over the years, new buildings going up and some old ones coming down. The rain during the monsoon can be a bit of a pain because the water tends to collect near the entrance, but we manage. We just keep the doors open and wait for customers. It isn't a corporate chain or anything like that. Just a mart where you can grab what you need and have a quick word about the weather or the local news. We do not do anything special, just keep the lights on and the shelves filled as best as we can every day.
