Radhe Shyam Stores

Radhe Shyam Stores is inside the Municipal Market on N.C. Mitra Road. It’s in the Gora Bazar area of Dum Dum, right by Rajbari. Being in the market means it’s always loud and there’s always something happening. We’ve had this spot for years. It’s a bit cramped because the market stalls are built close together, but we make it work. You have to walk past the vegetable sellers and the fish stalls to get to us. We sell basic household goods and some stationery items. People stop by on their way home from work or after they finish their grocery shopping. I usually get here early to open up and check what we need to restock. The lighting in the market isn't the best, so we have our own extra bulbs. It gets very busy on weekends, and sometimes it’s hard to even find a place to stand. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, so we keep an eye on each other’s places. It’s a community, really. We don’t use computers for our bills; we still use the old paper notebooks. It’s faster for us that way. The roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains really hard, but we just move the boxes. It’s a simple life running a store in Gora Bazar, but it’s what we know. We aren't doing anything special, just selling daily items to the local crowd.
