About Pizza Hut, India – Food & Beverages in Kolkata
We are down at 10/H, Nazir Lane in the Khiddirpur area. This isn't one of those big malls where everything is shiny; it's a real neighborhood spot. We spend our shifts in the kitchen, mostly. It gets hot back there with the ovens running all day long. We’ve got a routine: dough, sauce, toppings, and then into the heat. The bell rings when an order is up, and someone grabs it. It’s usually loud with the sound of the exhaust fans and people talking over each other. Nazir Lane can be a bit crowded, so we see a lot of people passing by or stopping in to see what’s cooking. We don't have a lot of time for sitting around. There’s always a floor to sweep or a counter to wipe down. We get all sorts of customers, from kids after school to people just coming home from work. We just try to keep the orders moving so nobody has to wait too long. The ingredients come in every morning and we get to work. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and making sure the boxes are folded. We aren't doing anything complicated, just making food and keeping the place clean enough. It’s just another day at work for us here in Kolkata. We don't put on an act; we just make the pizzas as they come in.
