Omkarnath Variety Stores

I run this shop on Station Road (West) in New Barrackpore. It is a very busy part of Kolkata because of all the people going to and from the station. Omkarnath Variety Stores is right in the middle of all that noise and movement. I sell things like plastic buckets, brooms, stationery, and small household repairs. The shop is narrow, and I have items hanging from the ceiling to save some space. You have to be careful not to bump your head on the hanging mugs. I start early in the morning because the commuters start arriving before the sun is fully up. It is a lot of fast-paced work, people just grabbing things they forgot to buy earlier. The floor is stone, and I sweep it several times a day to keep the platform dust out. I do not have a lot of help, so I am usually here from morning until the last train of the night. The street outside is always filled with rickshaws and vendors shouting their prices. It can be quite exhausting, but it is what I know. I have got a small radio that plays old songs in the background. It helps pass the time when things get a bit slower in the afternoon. It is just a standard variety store in a very busy Kolkata suburb, serving the commuters every day. I try my best to keep the shelves stocked.
