New Bhander

New Bhander is our little shop located at 109 Shyam Nagar Road in Kolkata. We are very close to the Tri More area, which is always buzzing with people and rickshaws. The name "New Bhander" might sound a bit funny since we have been here long enough that the shop feels quite old now, but we kept it anyway. It is a typical neighborhood store where you can find just about anything for your daily needs. We have pulses, cooking oils, snacks, and those small household things that always seem to run out at the wrong time. Because the shop is a bit small, we have to use all the vertical space we can. You will see items stacked all the way to the ceiling, and sometimes we have to use a long stick or a ladder to get things down for you. The humidity in Kolkata can be a bit much, so we usually have the front open to the street to catch whatever air is moving. It gets noisy with the sound of the horns from Tri More, but we are used to it by now. We know the people who live in the surrounding apartments and the workers who pass by every day for their tea and biscuits. We don't do anything fancy like home delivery apps; we just stay behind the counter and wait for the neighbors to drop by for a chat and their groceries. It is a simple life.
