Our workshop is located on H. P. Biswas Sarani in the Sahara Michale Nagar area, just off Chasur Road. It is a place where we work with leather all day, so the smell is something you get used to after five minutes. We are not in a modern industrial park; our building is quite old and has a lot of character. We have several people here who have been cutting and stitching leather for most of their lives. It is noisy with the sound of the sewing machines and the hammers. The floor is usually covered in scraps of leather and thread by the time the afternoon rolls around. We do not have a reception area or a place for visitors to sit, really. Most people who come here are suppliers or transport guys. The road outside can be a bit of a mess during the rainy season, and we have to watch out for the mud. We just focus on the products we are making. We check the hides for marks and make sure the edges are finished properly. It is a lot of manual labor and it can be quite tiring. We do not try to make the business sound like anything other than a busy workshop. We are just a local team doing what we know how to do with leather. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till night.
