We’ve been here on R N Avenue for quite some time now. Sodepur is always busy, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading out. Our shop is just a regular spot where you can find most things you need for the house. It isn't a fancy place with bright lights or glass aisles. Most days, you’ll find us dusting the shelves or trying to fit new stock into the corners. We’ve got soaps, plastic buckets, some stationery, and things like that. The fans hum all day long to keep the Kolkata heat away, though it doesn't always work. Sometimes the delivery trucks come late and we have to move boxes around while customers are waiting. It gets a bit cramped inside when more than three people walk in at once. We know most of the faces around here because they’ve been coming to us for years. My hands are usually busy counting change or checking the list of items we need to order for next week. It’s a simple routine that starts early and ends when the street lights are well and truly on. We don’t have any big corporate plans. It’s just about keeping the shelves filled so the neighbors don’t have to go too far for a lightbulb or a notebook. It’s messy sometimes, but that’s just how a real shop in Sodepur looks. We just keep going, day after day, trying to stay organized in the middle of the local rush.
