Rkchatterjee Road is where you will find us, specifically at number 1, Maa Tara Stores. This is in the 700002 area of Kolkata. It's a busy corner of the world, and we've been sitting here for a good many years now. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to get around to it. There is always a delivery arriving or someone needing help finding something on the top shelf. We don't use any fancy systems here. Everything is done by hand and memory. The heat in the summer makes the afternoons feel very long, so we move a bit slower then. We see children growing up as they come in over the years. It’s a bit strange to think about how much time has passed since we first opened the doors. The inventory changes based on what people are asking for that week. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to make sure we have what people need when they walk in. Some days are loud with the traffic outside and some days are surprisingly quiet. We just keep the lights on and wait for the next person to walk through the door. It is a basic way to live, but it suits us. Maa Tara Stores is just a local spot on a local road, nothing more. We try to keep things simple and stay out of the way of the heavy traffic.
