Iqbal Tannery

We spend most of our time here at 17/a/2 Kustia Road in Calcutta. It is an old part of the city and the roads are always busy with people moving things around. The main office is here but the real work happens just down the street at 15/16 Kustia Road where the factory is located. We have been at Iqbal Tannery for a while now. Most mornings start early because of the heat. You can hear the machines running from the street. It is not a fancy place, just a lot of leather and hard work every day. Sometimes the rain makes the road muddy which makes moving stock between the two buildings a bit of a challenge. We have a small crew and everyone knows their job. It gets loud inside when everything is going at once. The smell of the hides is just part of the air here. We do not have a big front desk or anything like that. People usually just walk into the yard if they need something. The tea stall nearby is where we usually take a break when things get too hectic. Dealing with the leather takes a lot of patience and the workers have been doing it for years. It is just a regular leather business trying to get the orders out on time. We do not spend much time on the computer, mostly we are on our feet in the factory or checking the stock at the office.
