Kids Island Public School

Kids Island Public School is right here on Tarun Sengupta Sarani in Italgacha. It is a busy street but once you step inside the gates, things get a bit quieter. We have been in this part of Kolkata for a good while now. The building isn't brand new or anything, but it stays cool enough in the summer with the fans going. Most of the teachers live nearby so they know the families around here. Every morning, the lane gets crowded with parents dropping off their little ones. You hear a lot of noise during the lunch break because the kids really like to run around the small paved area out front. We try to keep things organized but with children, there is always a bit of a mess. Someone usually spills water or drops their crayons. We spend a lot of time just showing them how to sit still and listen. The walls have some old drawings on them and some of the paint is peeling a bit near the bottom. It’s just a normal place where kids come to learn their basics before moving on to bigger schools. We don’t have fancy equipment, just the usual benches and boards. Most days are pretty much the same. We open up early, sweep the floors, and wait for the first rickshaw to arrive with the students. It is a lot of work keeping up with them all day long but we manage.
