Khidderpur Oriya High School

Khidderpur Oriya High School is located over at 18, South Tangra Road, right where Govinda Khatick Road meets the neighborhood in Kolkata. This area is always moving, and the school is right in the middle of all that noise and activity. It’s an old place, and you can see it in the walls and the way the stairs have worn down over the years from so many feet. Children come in from all around Tangra and the nearby parts of the city. Most of them are just normal neighborhood kids whose families have been here for a long time. The classrooms are basic, with wooden desks that have seen better days, but they serve the purpose. During the day, it gets quite loud with the traffic outside and the teachers trying to talk over it. We don't have a massive playground or anything like that, just enough space for the students to gather for their morning assembly before they head into their lessons. The staff room is usually full of books and tea cups, and we spend a lot of time just trying to keep the kids focused on their exams. It’s a government-aided kind of setup, so things move a bit slowly sometimes when it comes to repairs or getting new stuff for the library. Still, the school is a big part of this community, and it’s where most of the local families send their children to get through their high school years.
