We've been at 32 Jadu Colony for a long time now. It’s a busy part of Behala, right off Bhupen Roy Road, so there is always some noise from the traffic outside. The school day starts early and you can hear the kids walking down the lane from the main road. Our gate is usually open by 10 in the morning. The building itself isn’t anything fancy or brand new, but it serves its purpose for the students. We mostly handle the older kids here since it's a high school. During the breaks, the corridors get really loud with everyone rushing around. The teachers usually gather in the small staff room near the main entrance to have their tea and look over papers. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a bit of a mess with puddles everywhere, but the students are used to it. We don't have a massive field, but the courtyard is enough for our morning assembly and some physical activity. Most families in this part of Kolkata know where we are located. It’s a regular place where we just try to get through the syllabus every day. Some of the wooden desks have scratches and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but the classrooms stay busy. In the summer, the fans hum pretty loudly and we have to leave the doors open for air. It’s just how things are at Khagara High School. We focus on the books and the exams without too much fuss or extra stuff.
