Kennedy International Residential School

This school is on Dr. Sudhir Basu Road in the Khidirpur area. Because it is a residential school, there are students here almost all the time. It is a busy place to work. We have to look after the dormitories as well as the classrooms. The building is quite large compared to some others in this neighborhood. We spend a lot of our time making sure the kitchen is running and that the students are getting their meals on time. It is like a big house with a lot of children. We have been here for a good number of years now. The rooms are plain but they serve the purpose. We don't have any grand lobbies or anything like that. It is just a practical space for living and studying. In the evenings, you can see the students sitting around or doing their homework together. We have a small group of staff who stay on the premises to make sure everything is okay during the night. The street outside is typical for Kolkata, very busy and full of life. We try to keep a bit of order inside the gates, but with so many kids, there is always some noise or someone looking for a lost shoe or a book. It is a lot of responsibility to have people living here, but we are used to the routine by now. We just take it day by day and keep everything moving forward as best as we can.
