Kedar Nath Public School

Kedar Nath Public School sits on Suren Tagore Road. If you walk down the street in the morning, you hear the shuffle of feet and kids talking before the first bell rings out. Our building at 17 / 1 has seen a lot of years. It isn’t fancy, but it does what it needs to do. Inside, the hallways are usually a bit narrow, and the walls have that old paint smell mixed with a bit of dampness from the rainy season. The teachers here have been around for a long time. They know the families in the neighborhood by name and often stop to talk. We spend our days mostly trying to keep things organized. There is always a pile of notebooks on someone’s desk waiting to be checked with a red pen. When it rains heavily in Kolkata, the sound on the roof makes it hard to hear anything, so we just have to talk a bit louder. It’s a plain place where kids come to learn their lessons. We don't have big flashy posters or anything like that. Just wooden benches, blackboards that need a good scrub, and the usual noise of a school day. Sometimes the old ceiling fans squeak a bit in the summer heat, but nobody really minds it much. We are just a part of the local scene here, tucked away in this corner of the city. People know where to find us if they need anything.
