About Kaveri International School – Education in Kolkata
People usually find us easily because we’re right on Park Lane. Number 9, to be exact. It’s a busy part of Kolkata and the street noise comes in sometimes, but we’re used to it by now. I’ve worked here for a bit and it’s mostly just the usual school stuff every day. We open the gates early when the sun is just coming up over the buildings. The kids arrive in those yellow buses or their parents drop them off and it gets pretty loud. The hallways are narrow and the walls have some scuffs from where the students lean their heavy bags. We have classrooms on different floors and the stairs are always full of people moving between periods. It’s not a very quiet place until everyone goes home around 3 PM. Then the cleaning staff comes in to sweep up the bits of paper and pencil shavings from the floor. We have a small area where kids eat their lunch. Sometimes it smells like mustard oil and fish from the tiffins they bring. It’s just a regular school where we try to get through the syllabus. There are charts on the walls, some a bit torn at the edges, showing the alphabet or maps. We don’t have fancy stuff everywhere, just desks and chairs that have seen a lot of use. If you walk down the lane, you can hear the teachers talking through the windows. It’s been at this address for a while and the neighborhood knows we are here.
