Jamal Manzil is the building where this school is located, right at 18/D Linton Street in the Entally area of Kolkata. Entally is a very old and crowded neighborhood, so the school is surrounded by houses and small shops. The street outside is narrow, making it a bit difficult when parents come to drop off their children in the morning. Inside the building, the rooms are divided up to make space for different classes. It is an urban school, so we don't have a big green field for the kids to run around in. Instead, they play in the corridors or the small indoor common area. The walls have some drawings and charts made by the students, which makes the place feel a bit more lively. Since it is on Linton Street, you can always hear the sounds of the neighborhood, like people shouting or motorbikes passing by. The office is a small room near the entrance where the principal sits. We use old-fashioned bells to mark the end of each period. It is a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes, but the atmosphere is okay. The staff knows most of the families by name because they have lived in Entally for generations. It is a school that fits right into the busy, daily life of this part of the city. We do our work without making a big deal out of it. There are about twenty teachers on staff.
