Katurva Gandhi Girls School Chhapara

We are situated at 10B Anath Deb Lane, which is just off Beadon Street in North Kolkata. This is another one of those old-world locations where the lanes are skinny and the buildings are packed close together. Our school is a place for girls to get their education in a familiar environment. Being in the Beadon Street area means we are surrounded by a lot of history and old family homes. The school building itself is quite old and has that specific look of North Kolkata architecture. It’s a bit cramped at times, but we make the most of the space we have. There are no grand entrance gates or sprawling lawns here. Instead, we have a simple door on the lane that leads into our classrooms. The girls who come here are mostly from the nearby blocks. It’s a very local atmosphere. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day—the vendors calling out, the rickshaws passing by, and the general chatter of the city. We don't use any modern marketing or big slogans. We just open our doors every morning and get to work. The focus is always on the students and their books. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. Most of the people around here know us because we’ve been part of the lane for so long. It’s just how things are in this part of town. We are just a small school trying to help the local families out.
