Janata Stores

Our shop, Janata Stores, is located at 140 B T Road, right near the ISI in the Dunlop area of Kolkata. Being on B T Road means there is always a lot of traffic passing by. It’s a loud and lively part of the city. We have a bit of everything here. It’s the kind of store where you can find household items, maybe some stationery, and general daily goods. We’ve been part of this Dunlop neighborhood for a long time. People who work at the ISI or live in the nearby flats stop in often. We don't have a big corporate team. It’s just a few of us making sure the shelves are not empty. The store gets a bit dusty because of all the buses on B T Road, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the counters. We like it when the regulars come in for a chat while they shop. It makes the day go faster. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. If we have it, it's on the shelf. If we don't, we tell you. It’s a very straightforward way of doing business. The shop floor is a bit uneven in places, but nobody seems to mind. We stay open pretty late to catch the office crowd coming home. It’s just a regular Kolkata shop, doing its bit in a very busy part of town. We keep it simple and focus on what the locals need every day.
