If you come down Haribari 1st Lane, you will find us at number nine. It’s a narrow little lane and can be a bit hard to find if you aren’t looking closely, but once you get here, the smell of leather is everywhere. We’ve got rolls of hides piled up against the walls and scraps on the floor from whatever project was last on the bench. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us here every morning, getting the tools ready and looking at what needs to be cut for the day. The lighting isn't always the best in the back corners, so we end up doing a lot of the detail work near the front where the door stays open. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, so we keep the tea coming and try to stay focused. Sometimes people stop by just to see what we are making or to ask if we can fix something they’ve had for years. We don’t really do any big advertising or anything. Most people just find us by word of mouth or because they live nearby in the neighborhood. The work is slow and takes a lot of patience, but it’s what we know how to do. There is something nice about working with your hands and seeing a finished piece at the end of the week. It’s just a regular local spot in the lane.
