We’re located at No. 114a Dr Lal Mohan Bhattacharya Road, on the 2nd floor of Block A. Gaurav Lederwaren Pvt. Ltd. is where we spend our days working. Since we work with leather, the first thing you notice when you walk in is that heavy, earthy smell of hides. It’s a strong scent that sticks to your clothes even after you go home. The 2nd floor has some big windows, but it still gets pretty stuffy in the afternoons when the sun hits the side of the building. We have long tables set up for cutting the leather and heavy-duty machines for the stitching. Working with leather is tough on the hands, so most of us have some calluses and rough skin. It’s not like working with thin cotton or silk. You have to be very precise because you can’t really hide a needle mistake in a piece of leather. We spend a lot of time sorting through the pieces to find the right grain and color for the bags. The road outside is always loud with traffic and horns, but we’re usually focused on the work inside the shop. We have a small corner where we keep the finished bags and jackets waiting to be shipped. It’s not a showroom, just a storage area with some metal racks. We don't have a lot of visitors, mostly just our suppliers and the occasional delivery driver. It’s simple work that keeps us busy.
