Our place is down at 70/1 Topsia Road South. If you know this part of town, you know it’s where a lot of the leather work happens. The smell of the hides is something you notice right away when you walk into the area. We work with all sorts of leather items here. The space isn't very big, so we have to be careful with where we put the scrap pieces and the finished goods. It’s a lot of manual labor, using the tools to cut the leather and the machines to stitch it all together. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and leather dust by the end of the day. We don’t have a big storefront with lights; it’s more of a workshop where we actually make the things. The traffic on Topsia Road can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we try to get our deliveries out before the rush starts. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy with all the other workshops nearby, but that’s just how it is in this neighborhood. We’ve got a couple of old desks and some sturdy shelves for the stock. It’s a simple setup. We just come in, do the cutting and the sewing, and try to keep everything organized enough so we can find the tools we need the next morning. It’s hard work on the hands, but it’s what we do to get through the week.
