Tara Maa Leather

Our workshop and shop are located at No. 147-a/1 Bosepukur Road. If you walk down this road, you can usually tell where we are by the smell of the leather. We have been working with leather for a long time now. The space is a bit cramped because we have the raw hides in the back and the finished products up front. We make things like bags, belts, and sometimes jackets. It is a dusty job and our hands are usually stained from the dyes we use. The shop floor is made of old concrete and we have heavy sewing machines that make a lot of noise when they are running. Bosepukur Road is always busy with rickshaws and people moving about, so there is a lot of energy right outside the door. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s just a place where we work and sell what we make. Most of the people who buy from us are locals or people who have heard about us from their friends. We spend our days cutting, stitching, and hammering. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with scraps of leather all over the floor, but we clean it up at the end of the day. It is hard work and the hours are long, but we have been doing this for so long it just feels normal. We keep the lights on late into the evening most nights to finish up our orders.
