If you go to Barasat in Kolkata, you’ll find us. Adarsha College of Education is a place where people come to learn how to be teachers themselves. The building is older, with high ceilings and fans that hum all day long. Kolkata is always humid, so we all just get used to the sweat and the damp air during the rainy season. Our classrooms are filled with stacks of papers and textbooks. It’s not a fancy campus with manicured lawns. It’s more of a functional space where students sit and talk about lesson plans. We spend a lot of time in the office dealing with registrations and exam schedules. There’s a small canteen nearby where everyone goes for chai and biscuits. The atmosphere is usually a bit serious because the students are working toward their degrees, but you still hear laughter in the corridors between classes. We’ve been here in Barasat for quite a while, and the locals know the building well. It’s a straightforward college. We don't have a marketing team or anything; we just open the doors every morning and get to work. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we’ve seen many groups of students come and go. It’s just a regular part of the neighborhood, providing a spot for higher education without any unnecessary bells and whistles. We keep the place running as best as we can.
