It is not a big company with a lobby or a receptionist. It is more like a local spot where we handle our daily affairs. Michael Nagar is a place where everyone kind of knows each other, or at least they know who belongs and who doesn't. We have a small room that serves as our office. It is tucked away from the main noise of the bigger streets. Kolkata is a city that never really sleeps, but Michael Nagar has its own rhythm. We get a lot of rain during the monsoon season, and the roof leaks a little bit near the window, but we just put a bucket there and keep working. Our furniture is mostly second-hand and mismatched, but it serves its purpose well enough. We don't spend money on fancy things because we don't need to. Most of our day is spent looking at documents or talking to people who drop by. It is a very straightforward way of doing things. No corporate talk, just real work with real people from the neighborhood. We have been here for a while and we plan to stay, just doing what we do every day in this corner of West Bengal.
