We are located out at the Kolkata Leather Complex, specifically Plot No. 903 A & B in Zone 10. It’s right across from the Cognizant building, which is a big landmark that helps people find us. Being in South 24 Parganas means we are right in the heart of the leather zone. It’s an industrial area, so don't expect anything pretty. There’s a lot of noise from the neighboring plots and trucks are constantly moving in and out. We focus on leather processing. It’s a tough job and the air always has that chemical smell from the tanning process. We have a decent sized space, but it’s mostly taken up by vats and drying racks. The floor is usually wet and we all wear heavy boots. We’ve been working in this complex for quite a while now. It’s not an easy environment, but it’s where the work is. We handle a lot of raw skins and turn them into something usable. There’s no fancy office here, just a small corner with a desk where we do the paperwork. We mostly just keep our heads down and get through the daily pile of work. Some days are longer than others, especially when a big shipment needs to go out. It’s just how the leather business goes and we are used to the grind by now.
