Bamas Leathers

Bamas Leathers is right in the middle of Periamet on Lalakutty Street. If you know this area, you know it’s the place for leather. Our shop is at No.8 A, and it’s been in the family for a long time. It’s a narrow street and it’s always crowded with people and carts. The building we are in is quite old, and the walls are stained from years of work. We deal with raw hides and processed leather. It’s a messy business and it doesn't always smell the best, but we’re used to it. My uncle started this place, and I took over when he couldn't do the heavy lifting anymore. We have stacks of leather reaching up to the ceiling. You have to be careful walking through the back room or you’ll trip over something. We don't have a fancy website or a glossy catalog. If someone wants leather, they come here, feel the grain, and check the thickness themselves. We have tea with the other shop owners on the street every afternoon. It’s a tight community here. We aren't doing anything fancy. We just know leather and we know how to pick the decent stuff from the bad. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until night. We like it that way. No corporate talk, just piles of leather and long days.
