Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd. (Sugar Division)

This is the sugar division of Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd. down here in Kolkata. We are based at 234/3A A.J.C. Bose Road. If you are familiar with Kolkata, you know that AJC Bose Road is always packed with cars, buses, and people. It is one of those parts of the city that never really seems to stop. Our office is right in the middle of all that noise and energy. Inside the building, things feel a little bit different. We have got stacks of ledgers and people constantly talking on their phones about sugar prices or shipping schedules. It is a very old-school kind of atmosphere in here. We don't have those modern open-plan offices with bean bags. It is more about individual cubicles and heavy wooden desks that have been around for years. The ceiling fans have probably been spinning since long before I started working here. We deal with the sugar side of the business, so there is a lot of talk about harvests and how the factories are running. It is not just about the numbers; it is about the people out in the fields too. Sometimes the mail takes a while to get through the city traffic, but we are used to that delay. Lunchtimes usually involve someone going out to get tea and snacks from the local stalls on the sidewalk. You can hear the trams and the horns from the street all day long. It is a busy place but we have our own steady rhythm. We have been at this AJC Bose Road spot for a long time.
