B. S. Leathers

Our place is No. 59 Gardener Lane. It’s a small lane, and it can be easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. B. S. Leathers has been here for a good while now. We work with leather, so the smell is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a strong, earthy scent that stays in your clothes long after you leave. The shop is filled with hides and tools. It’s not a very big space, but we make it work. We spend our days cutting and stitching. It’s hard on the hands. The lane outside is usually quiet compared to the main roads. We have a few windows that let in some light, but it’s mostly artificial light we work under. We have our regulars who know where to find us. We don't have a website or any big ads. Just the sign above the door. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for years. It’s a slow process, working with leather. You can’t rush it. We have our benches and our specialized needles. Sometimes we just sit and drink tea when the light fades in the evening. It’s a decent life. We don't want for much. Just enough work to keep the shop open and the family fed. We just stay busy with our craft.
