Artisans Leather Point

Artisans Leather Point is located at 28 Shariff Lane. It’s a small spot, but it fits everything we need for working with leather materials day in and day out. If you know the lane, it’s fairly easy to find, although parking a vehicle can be a bit of a headache most afternoons. We spend most of our hours here surrounded by the smell of hides and the constant sound of our tools. The workshop is a bit messy with scraps of leather on the floor, but that’s just how it goes when you’re actually busy making things. We don’t have a big showroom with glass cases. People usually just come right into the work area to see what we are currently working on. We started this because we knew how to handle the material. It’s tough work on your hands, but it’s what we know. We have a couple of old sewing machines that have seen a lot of use over the years. They still run fine if you know how to treat them and keep them oiled. We do all sorts of leather items, mostly in small batches. We don't really do any big advertising. Most folks find out about us through word of mouth or by just walking down the lane and seeing us there. It’s just a handful of us working in the shop. We take our breaks when we can, usually having some tea out front. It’s a simple setup and we just try to do the work properly.
