You can find Alpha Radios & Novelties (P) Ltd at number 8 Madan Street. It’s an old part of town, and the street can get incredibly crowded with shoppers and rickshaws during the day. We’ve been here for a long time, selling radios and all sorts of novelty items. The shop is filled with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. It might look a bit disorganized to an outsider, but we know exactly where every little part and gadget is kept. We aren't a big modern retail chain. We are more of a traditional shop where you can still find things that the big stores stopped carrying years ago. People come in looking for specific radio components or just something interesting to give as a gift. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who remember coming here with their parents. It’s that kind of place. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, and the wooden counters are worn down from years of use. We don't use a lot of fancy technology to run the place. We still write down many of our sales by hand in a notebook. It works for us. Working on Madan Street means you see a lot of different people every day. It’s noisy and loud outside, but inside it feels a bit like stepping back in time. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just open the doors every morning and see who comes in.
