Akshya Alankar

We are tucked away on Madar Hat Road in Baruipur, right near the Bank of India ATM. If you are walking around Parganas, you might stumble upon Akshya Alankar without even looking for it. It’s a small shop, and we like it that way. We mostly deal with traditional pieces and things that people around here actually wear for weddings or everyday life. It isn't like those big showrooms in the city where everything is glass and bright lights. Here, we sit down with people and talk. Sometimes the tea gets cold because we are busy looking at designs or talking about a repair that needs to be done. We get a lot of regulars who remember us from when their parents brought them here. The street outside can get quite crowded, especially on market days, but inside it’s a bit slower. We spend a lot of time looking through small eyeglass loops at tiny details. It’s a lot of sitting and a lot of concentration. Sometimes the inventory is a bit disorganized, but we know where everything is. We don't really do big advertisements or anything fancy. Word of mouth has always worked better for us in this part of Baruipur. People know we are here by the ATM and they stop in when they need something polished or a new gift for a relative. It’s just a regular local business trying to do honest work every day.
