Alam Stores

You can find Alam Stores right on Belgachia Road. We are part of the local scene here in Kolkata. It’s a busy street, like most of this part of town, with people always rushing to catch the metro or a bus. Our shop is pretty straightforward. We sell things like soap, biscuits, loose tea, and other grocery items that families around Belgachia need. The store is a bit old, and the paint isn't perfect, but it works for us. We spend a lot of our time checking the inventory and talking to the distributors who pull up on the road. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights. Most of the time, it’s just me or a family member sitting behind the wooden counter. We know most of the people who live in the lanes behind Belgachia Road. They come in for a quick chat and to buy their daily supplies. When it rains, the water splashes up from the road, so we have to keep the front tidy. It’s just a normal way to earn a living. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just rely on people walking by and seeing our sign. It’s been this way for years. We keep the prices as fair as we can because we know our neighbors. It’s a lot of work, but we like being right here on the main road.
