Tradition Leather

Up on the 9th floor of 69 Ganesh Chandra Avenue, we’ve got our workspace set up. It’s a bit of a trek if the lift is acting slow, but the view of the street from up here is alright. We deal with leather mostly. When you walk in, that’s the first thing you smell. It’s a strong scent that stays on your clothes, but you get used to it after a few days. We spend our hours sorting through different pieces and checking the quality of what comes in. It’s not always clean work. There’s dust and scraps everywhere by the end of the afternoon. We aren't a big corporate office with glass walls. It’s just us and a lot of material piled up on tables. Ganesh Chandra Avenue is always loud down below, so it’s nice to be a few floors up where it’s slightly quieter. We’ve been at this for a good bit of time. Most of the people working here have been around for years. We know each other’s habits and how we like our tea. We don’t bother with much ceremony. If someone needs something done, they just ask. It’s a practical way to run things. We keep the books in the corner and the leather in the center. That’s pretty much the whole setup. We just try to do the work right and go home.
