Marathi Khasiyat

Marathi Khasiyat is tucked away in Saranga Apartment in the Samrat Nagar area of Kolhapur. We are located right opposite the NCC Bhawan and behind Shivaji University. Because of where we are, we see a lot of university students and professors every day. It’s a nice, academic part of town. Our restaurant is not very big, just a cozy little space on the ground floor. We’ve kept the interiors very simple because we want people to focus on the food. My wife and I started this place because we wanted to share the flavors we grew up with. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s just us and a couple of helpers. We do all the shopping ourselves at the local vegetable market. The tables are a bit close together, so it can get a bit crowded during the lunch hour. We don’t have a fancy menu with lots of options. We just do a few things and we try to do them right. Sometimes we get a bit behind when a large group of students comes in at once, but we do our best to catch up. We don't use any frozen ingredients. Everything is made from scratch every morning. It's a lot of work, but we enjoy the routine. We don't have a lot of rules here, just come in, sit down, and have a meal. It’s a humble place and we like it that way.
