Barbequenation Restaurant

We’re located way up on the 9th floor of the Sayaji Hotel at Kawala Naka in Kolhapur. Being on the Old Pune Bangalore Road makes us easy to get to, though the elevator ride can take a minute during peak hours. From up here, we get a decent view of the city, but we spend most of our time looking at the grills on the tables. Our team is mostly made up of locals who know the city well. We don’t go in for any of that polished corporate talk. We just want to make sure people have a place to sit down and eat until they’re full. The kitchen stays hot and the pace is fast, but we’ve got a rhythm down by now. We handle everything from the prep work in the early morning to the final cleanup late at night. It’s a lot of scrubbing and polishing to keep everything looking right. We get a lot of travelers coming through because of the hotel, along with the regular Kolhapur crowd. It’s an interesting mix of people every single day. We don’t try to be something we’re not. We’re just a restaurant on the top floor of a hotel, doing our best to keep the coal burning and the plates moving. It’s steady work and we take it one day at a time. We've been here a while and know the drill.
