Sitara Punjabi Dhaba

Sitara Punjabi Dhaba is situated right on the highway, NH 1, near a village called Samana Bahu. We are pretty close to the Shakti Rice Mill, which is a big landmark for anyone driving through Karnal. Being on the highway means we see a lot of different people every day. Most of them are truck drivers or families traveling long distances who need a break from the road. It’s a big open space because that’s what people need when they’ve been cramped in a car or a truck for hours. We have plenty of room for parking outside, which is important for the big lorries. The air out here smells a bit like the fields and the rice mill when the wind blows the right way. We start early in the morning because the highway never really sleeps. People are always moving. Our kitchen is usually busy with big pots of food. It’s not like a city restaurant where everything is quiet and tiny. Here, everything is a bit louder and more spread out. We don't have fancy menus or anything like that. We just serve the kind of food people expect when they stop at a dhaba. It’s a lot of hard work keeping the place running day and night, but we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the highway. It’s just a plain, honest spot for people to eat and rest before they keep going.
