Choudhary Khana Khajana

You can find us on Meerut Road in Karnal, right near Nagla Chowk. We are situated very close to the Indian Oil petrol pump, which is a good landmark if you are driving by. This place, Choudhary Khana Khajana, is where we spend all our hours. It’s a basic setup for food and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't. The kitchen gets hot in the summer, but that is part of the job. We serve a lot of people who are traveling on the highway and just need a quick meal before they get back behind the wheel. The road outside stays busy with trucks going toward Meerut or coming into Karnal. Sometimes the wind blows a lot of dust from the fields nearby, so we are always wiping down the tables to keep them clean. It is a family-run kind of thing and we don't have fancy menus or waiters in uniforms. We just cook what we know. Most of the regulars are people from the local villages or drivers who stop at the pump next door for fuel. We’ve been at this spot for a good while and the neighbors around Nagla Chowk are all friendly. There is always something to do, whether it’s peeling sacks of onions or cleaning the floors after a big group leaves. It is just honest work for us every single day and we stay busy from morning until late at night.
