Turnip Restaurant

Turnip Restaurant is a small place at 14/63 on Civil Lines Road in Kanpur. We are right by the Sgm area, very close to the petrol pump, which makes it easy for people to tell their friends where we are. We picked the name Turnip just because it sounded different, not because we only serve vegetables. Most of our days are spent in the kitchen, which is quite cramped if I’m being honest. Civil Lines is a busy part of Kanpur, so there’s always a lot of noise from the traffic and the people heading to work. We get a lot of guys stopping by after they fill up their tanks at the pump. The seating isn't very soft, but it's clean and it gets the job done. We don't have any awards on the walls or anything like that. We just focus on making sure the food isn't too oily and that it comes out hot. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back door when it’s monsoon season, but we just put a bucket there and keep moving. It’s just me and a few others running the show. We aren't looking to become a big chain or anything. We just want to make enough to pay the rent and keep the regulars happy. It’s a simple life in a busy city, and we are fine with that as long as people keep coming.
