Taj Darbar

We are right across from the Fresco in Jajmau. It’s a big 150 ft road, so it’s hard to miss Taj Darbar at number 12. Kanpur can be a dusty place, especially with all the trucks going by. We spend a lot of time sweeping the front and making sure things look okay. It’s just a group of us running the place. We aren't a big corporation or anything like that. We just live and work here in the 208010 area. People stop in when they are traveling or if they live nearby and don't want to cook. We have some tables and chairs that have seen better days, but they work fine for a meal. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to scramble to get the lights back on. That’s just life in Kanpur. We try to keep the food hot and the water cold. It’s not complicated. We don’t have a fancy marketing team or a social media person. It’s just us. Most days are pretty much the same. We open up early and stay late until the last customer leaves. Jajmau has its own rhythm. You get used to the sound of the heavy road traffic. If you find yourself on the 150 ft road, you’ll see our sign. We're just regular people trying to make a living at Taj Darbar. It gets sweaty in the kitchen, but we keep going through the day.
