Shukla Restaurant

This is Shukla Restaurant and we are located in the Kda market in Barra, Kanpur. If you know the Barra area, you probably know how crowded the market gets in the evenings. We have been in this spot for quite some time now. It’s a small place, nothing too big or flashy, just a regular spot where people from the nearby houses come to eat. I spend most of my day at the counter or checking on the kitchen. My father started this place and now I am the one looking after it. We use the same recipes he used years ago. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to get around to it. Usually, the lunch rush is when we are most active. You’ll see students and office workers crammed onto the benches. It gets hot in the summer, but we keep the fans going as much as we can. We buy our supplies from the same vendors every morning. It’s a lot of routine. Wake up, open the shutters, prep the vegetables, and wait for the first customer. We don't really do any advertising. People just find us by walking through the market or hearing about us from their neighbors. It’s a simple business and we try to do our job properly every day without making a fuss about it. We just keep the kitchen running and the customers fed.
