We are right here on the Lucknow Kanpur Highway. It stays pretty busy with all the trucks and families stopping by. My brother and I took over from our father a few years back. The kitchen opens early so we can get things ready before the morning rush hits. It gets really hot in there, especially during the summer months, but we just get on with it. We mostly serve people who are traveling between the two cities and need a break from driving. The seating is basic, just tables and chairs like you'd find anywhere along this stretch of road. We try to keep the place tidy, but with so much traffic coming through, it’s a constant job. Some days the tea is better than others, depending on who’s working the stove. We don't have a fancy menu or anything like that. People usually just ask what's fresh and we tell them. It's a loud place because of the highway noise right outside our door, but that's just how it is. Sometimes local guys come by in the evening to sit and chat for a while. We know most of the regulars by name now. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but it pays the bills and keeps us busy. We just focus on getting the food out fast so drivers can get back on the road to Kanpur or wherever they're headed.
