Nafs Fire College Kanpur

Out here in Bithoor, we set up this fire college to help people learn the basics of fire safety and emergency work. It is a bit of a drive from the main Kanpur city, but the space allows for the kind of practical stuff we have to do. We have some old engines and equipment scattered around the yard that students use to practice. The classrooms are pretty basic, with wooden benches and whiteboards that are often covered in diagrams of hoses and valves. Most of the guys here are looking for jobs in the fire service or in factories, so they take the training quite seriously. You will see them out in the sun wearing their heavy gear, which cannot be comfortable in the Kanpur heat. We do a lot of climbing and carrying heavy things to make sure everyone is fit enough for the job. The office is usually cluttered with forms and manuals. There is a small canteen nearby where everyone grabs tea during the breaks. It is a gritty kind of place, not much to look at, but it is where the actual work happens. The ground is often wet from the drills we run with the water pumps. We don't have much in the way of fancy tech, just the tools and the people willing to learn how to use them. It is a quiet area of Bithoor, mostly just us and the local shops nearby. People know us by the sound of the sirens during practice.
