Manokamna Rahi Darbar Restaurant

Our restaurant, Manokamna Rahi Darbar Restaurant, is located at 270 in the Old LIC Building. We are right on the Luckhnow Kanpur Highway Road in the Jajmau area of Kanpur. Being on the highway means we see a lot of people driving through 208010. It’s a big, dusty road with plenty of trucks and cars passing by at all hours. We spend a lot of time sweeping up because of all the traffic outside. The Old LIC Building is a well-known landmark around Jajmau, so people usually don't have a hard time finding us. We are just a group of people working together to keep the place going. Some of us have been here since the start. The kitchen can get pretty hot, especially in the summer months, but we just keep at it. We don't have any big speeches about what we do. We just cook and serve whoever comes in. It might be a family on a road trip or a local worker from nearby in Jajmau. The highway road is always loud, but inside we try to keep things a bit more relaxed. We have our routines for prep work and cleaning that we follow every single day. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s our business and we take care of it the best we can. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or a light bulb goes out, and we just fix it and keep moving. The highway noise never really stops, it’s like a constant hum in the background of everything we do. We have some heavy curtains to keep the dust out, but it still finds its way in. It’s just part of being in Jajmau on such a busy road.
